I

The body – it’s battered
The soul – it’s shattered
The heart – it’s aching
The pain – it’s rising

The eyes are closed
Can’t face the light
The crowd is jeering
Enjoying the sight

Standing condemned
Before the world
Waiting to pay
For all the crimes
And all the sins
That I have committed
Might have committed
Could have committed
Would have committed
Should have committed

The judgment is out
Guilty as charged
For all the things that I
Should not have done
Might not have done
Could not have done
Have not done,

we will
Kill the devil.
Kill the devil
Kill the devil
Kill the devil now

II

Why are you so nice and good?
Why am I so bad?
Why are you so happy?
Why am I so sad?

III

The devil is lamenting
Ha ha the devil’s lament
The devil is lamenting
Ha ha the devil’s lament

He can say what he wants
But we will not believe him
He can cry all he wants
But we will not relieve him

Kill the devil
Kill the devil
Kill the devil
Kill the devil now

Break his bones,
Break his bones,
Broke his bones,
Break all of them now

He may cry, he may beg,
He may twist in pain,
His bleeding,
His pleading,
His cries for mercy
Will all go in vain,

He may well pretend,
That he will now repent
But we will not relent,
But we will not relent,

We will
Kill the Devil
Kill the Devil
Kill the Devil
Kill the Devil now

We will
Break his bones
Break his bones
Break his bones
Break his bones now

IV

I am dead
Oh how beautiful thought
When all is over
Nothing to worry about

I am dead
The twisted body can rot
No pleasure, no pain
Nothing is all that I’ve got

I am dead
There is nothing that I want
No possessions, no desires
Am reduced to naught

V

We killed the devil
Killed the devil
Killed the devil – Yes

We broke his bones
Broke his bones
Broke his bones – Yes
